Zurich Airport taxi or private chauffeur?

Take a taxi from the rank when

  • you have just landed and have booked nothing;
  • you want to leave at once, without waiting for a confirmation.

Pre-book a car when

  • you want the price settled before you travel: you see it when you book, and traffic does not change it;
  • you want someone waiting for you: your chauffeur stands in the arrivals hall with your name on a tablet and follows your flight;
  • you travel with children or a lot of luggage: you choose the class, child seats are included, and the Business Van takes up to 6 passengers and 6 suitcases;
  • you are going to Zurich city, Lucerne, Basel, Interlaken or a ski resort and want the car booked and the price fixed before you land;
  • you are booking for someone else, such as a guest, a colleague or your parents: you both receive the confirmation and the chauffeur's details.

Taxis at Zurich Airport: where the rank is

  • The taxis stand along the inner kerbside lanes of Arrival 1 and Arrival 2. The airport's official taxis are marked “Airport Taxi” and accept credit cards.
  • The airport's website lists Airport Taxi Zürich at the kerbside of Arrival 1, in the public area, daily from 06:00 to 23:30.

What a taxi from Zurich Airport costs

  • There is no official maximum fare: the Canton of Zurich, which has regulated taxis since 1 January 2024, has set none. Each taxi sets its own basic fare, price per kilometre and price per minute, and has to display them on the right-hand side of the car and inside.
  • On the meter, kilometres and minutes are charged together for the whole ride. A fixed price is possible only if you agree it with the driver before the ride.
  • For the ride to Zurich city centre, the airport's website gives a figure of around CHF 65.

Zurich Airport taxi or chauffeur: your questions

How much is the taxi fare from Zurich Airport to the city centre?
Around CHF 65, according to the airport's website. The exact fare depends on the taxi's own rates and on the traffic, because the meter counts kilometres and minutes. With us, the ride to Zurich city costs from CHF 90 in a Comfort Sedan, fixed when you book.

Is there a fixed taxi price at Zurich Airport?
No official one. The Canton of Zurich has set no maximum tariff, so each taxi decides its own rates and displays them on the car. A driver may agree a fixed price with you before the ride; otherwise the meter applies.

What does a taxi from Zurich Airport to Lucerne or Basel cost?
The airport's website gives a figure only for Zurich city centre. To another town, the fare depends on the taxi you take: ask the driver for a fixed price before the ride. Our prices are fixed when you book: from CHF 220 to Lucerne and from CHF 260 to Basel in a Comfort Sedan.

Is Express Transfer a taxi?
Express Transfer is a limousine service registered with the Canton of Zurich. You book in advance: a car with its chauffeur for a set pickup time, at a price you see before you pay. Your chauffeur meets you in the arrivals hall with your name on a tablet.

How can I pay?
Online, by credit or debit card, when you book: your ride is confirmed as soon as the payment goes through, and the price you saw is the price you pay. Approved company accounts can pay by monthly invoice instead.

My flight is late: do I pay for waiting?
No. We track your flight; a delay moves your pickup, and your 60 minutes of free waiting run from the new pickup time.

Can I cancel for free?
Yes. You get a full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before the originally confirmed pickup time. A flight delay does not move this deadline. If you cancel within 24 hours, or don't show up, the full amount may be retained.
